The Cambodian Weavers Village is based in Takeo Province, Cambodia. They are a self-sustaining social enterprise, completely independent of grants and donations.
The Weaving Village has plans to have their own cotton field, but in the meantime, it's imported from Thailand, then hand-dyed using natural materials. Our Black Friday's bold charcoal gray stripes are literally dyed using charcoal.
It takes 2-3 days to set up one wooden loom. The weaver then uses peddles to alternate individual threads, passing a "shuttle" through them to create the cross weave, one thread at a time.
Each piece embodies a unique story, crafted by the hands and eyes that see it through to the final step, quality inspection. Every thread is scanned, ensuring the scarf is durable and wearable.
